Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and will close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home with a combined gross house earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic earnings won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last nsfas status check day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
